Social Skills Groups

Developing Social Skills through group activities and games

 
What the Social Skills Group Includes :
 
  • 10 week, 1.5 hour sessions

  • Sessions begin in the fall and continue running for the duration of the school year

  • 2:5 staff to child ratio;

  • Group Size of 4 to 6 children

  • Ages 3-5, 5-7, 7-9

  • Group matching based on ability level & target goals

  • Session summaries of targeted skill areas to be carried over at home

 
Pre-requisites to be included in a Social Skills Group:
  • Ability to respond to instructions

  • Use sentences to communicate

  • Imitate the actions of others

  • Understand basic turn taking

  • Show an interest in play activities and games

  • Demonstrate low levels of challenging behavior
