Autism is on the rise. Some studies
indicate that approximately 1 in every 166 children is
diagnosed annually, joining the 1.7 million American families
currently affected by autism. At such alarming incidence
rates, autism has become the most rapidly growing
developmental disability, more common than Down’s syndrome,
childhood diabetes, and juvenile cancer combined. Most
significantly, most children with autism require specialized
education and support services for the rest of their lives.
There is hope however, early diagnosis and intensive education
can change the course of this childhood disorder. Support the
