Autism Diagnostic and Screening Services
How to Get an Autism Diagnosis
Autism Screening for Young Children
Our autism screening is designed for infants and toddlers at risk (i.e., those with a familial history of autism), or whose parents are concerned about autism but are unsure what to look for. The goal of the autism screening is to provide families with our initial clinical impressions and a decisive plan for how to proceed, including referrals and recommendations.
Expert Autism Diagnosis Services
Many parents come to Alpine Learning Group to get an autism diagnosis for their child. Using state-of-the-art diagnostic tools including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), this comprehensive assessment is designed to provide a formal autism diagnosis. The evaluation consists of observation and interaction with your child to assess critical developmental domains, a review of medical records, and parent and caregiver interviews. Our in-depth report includes impressions and treatment recommendations for an autism diagnosis. The report can be used to get insurance funded ABA services. We provide a follow-up session to review evaluation results with parents. We also offer psychological evaluations for adolescents and adults that are autism focused.
Autism-Focused Consultation with a Psychologist
If your child has an autism diagnosis or you suspect your child has autism, our state licensed psychologists offer a one-hour consultation to informally assess their social, play, and communication skills, as well as their responsiveness to behavioral treatment. Brief notes with recommended treatment goals and autism services are provided within 3-5 days, and a formal report is available for an additional fee.
Psychoeducational Evaluations
Available to both school districts and parents, this independent evaluation of a child’s learning, social, and emotional needs can be helpful for IEP/504 planning, to understand a recent academic decline, or to evaluate the effectiveness or need for specialized educational services.
The psychoeducational evaluation involves a series of standardized tests, observations, and interviews designed to provide insights into the child’s strengths, weaknesses, and unique learning style. Results are presented in a comprehensive report that includes educational and behavioral recommendations, and can be used to determine eligibility for educational services. We provide a follow-up meeting to review the results and answer your questions.
Neuropsychological Evaluations
If your child is experiencing academic challenges, behavioral issues, emotional struggles, or developmental delays, a neuropsychological evaluation can be an invaluable tool to gain a deeper understanding of their cognitive and emotional functioning.
Conducted by a neuropsychologist, this thorough and specialized assessment involves a series of standardized tests, interviews, and observations designed to evaluate brain functions, cognitive abilities, emotional well-being, and behavioral patterns.
You will receive a comprehensive report including specific recommendations that can be used as a “bridge to service” in obtaining tailored interventions. Results can also be used for clarity in an autism diagnosis, school placement and planning, or receiving testing accommodations. We provide a follow-up meeting to review the results and answer your questions.
